Local Grid

Optimal Local Distribution – Today and in the Future

Secondary substations are no longer only used to distribute energy from the supplier to the point of use. More and more consumers are feeding their surplus energy into the grid. Intelligent secondary substations must therefore manage the locally available resources, collect relevant data and monitor their part of the network.

Based on our proven SPRECON platform, we offer you a modular solution for the control and monitoring of secondary substations, with which the quality of supply can be ensured. IT security aspects are taken into account just as much as the economic efficiency of the stations themselves. As a network operator, you benefit from numerous advantages.

The Smart Secondary Substation from Sprecher Automation

  • Capture of the relevant grid data and control of the grid status via the SPRECON-E-T3 basic system with integrated IT security by means of encrypted communication via IEC 60870-5-104 with IPsec/OpenVPN
  • Control of relevant feeders, consumers and storage
  • Decentralised management tasks to relieve the NCC/SCADA

Our smart secondary substation is modularly expandable so that you can also meet future legal and/or operational requirements:

  • Telecontrol functions for recording grid statuses and for controlling within the low- and medium-voltage grid
  • Three-phase data logging for U/I, active and reactive power, frequency
  • Temperature via PT 100
  • Grid automation, such as transformer control
  • Integration into existing systems, for example through interoperability with grid control systems
  • 2 separate Ethernet interfaces and, depending on the variant, up to 2 RS232s or 2 RS485s
  • Coupling of sub-systems, such as power quality, metering etc., via, e.g., Modbus, IEC 62056-21 (IEC 1107)
  • Remote maintenance and remote commissioning for servicing and large-scale rollout
  • Operator control unit for monitoring and control
  • Integrated web server as an information portal for the network operator
  • Option of an integrated GPRS modem

The smart secondary substation can be expanded into an efficient solution for managing entire grid regions. With the SPRECON-E product group (control and protection devices) and our SPRECON-V460 visualisation system, you also have devices and tools available to you for automation, communication and NCC/SCADA.
