Cellular Grids
The currently observable trend towards decentralised generation of energy also occurs in the form of cellular power systems. Here, attempts are being made to regulate supply and demand already at the regional level and to operate a stable grid that functions largely without outside intervention – even in the event of a major blackout.
In regions with a particularly high share of renewable energies, the distribution grids are already reaching the limits of their load capacity in some cases. Without an intelligent management of the distribution grid, especially the feed-in from a large number of decentralised photovoltaic plants can already lead to heavy grid loads and partial shutdowns.
On the other hand, decentralised generation also opens up the possibility of operating island grids.
Intelligent automation and control technologies in combination with the appropriate grid control, protection and telecontrol technology can practically solve these two problems together. In grid parallel operation, critical grid states can be remedied, and in the event of a blackout, the grid can be operated as an island grid. However, island grids are complex systems that require an exact analysis of generation, consumption as well as the grid infrastructure including secondary technology.
At Sprecher Automation you will find the technology that is individually tailored to your needs and that you require for the safe and reliable operation of your cellular grid.
